The three most common errors an end user receives when using Banner are:

  1. No Assertions Found
  2. Service Invocation Failed
  3. System is configured for external authentication and identity assertions is null

No Assertions Found or Service Invocation Failed

Occurs when:

  • Logging onto Banner 9 (all browsers)
  • Your Banner instance is idle
  • You have been entering multiple entries of the same type

Solution:

Clear the web browser cache.

Clearing your Web browser cache forces the browser to load the latest versions of web pages and programs you visit. When you close and then reopen your browser, this forces the creation of a new authentication session. For more information about clearing browser cache download "NoAssertionsDound_ServiceInvocationDailed.pdf" below.

System is configured for external authentication and identity assertions is null

Occurs when:

  • You cannot authenticate into Banner
  • You receive the pop-up above
  • Your annual Family Education Rights And Privacy Act (FERPA) training in KnowledgeLink is past due
  • You no longer have access to this app because of a change in department, responsibilities or employment status

Solution:

Log onto KnowledgeLink and FERPA should be listed in you Learning Plan. Once completed, your access to Banner should be reinstated within 24 hours If you do not see FERPA training listed in your TO-DOs, register for the course using this course ID: UP.87024.ITEM.FERPA001
