  • Coworkers or friends inform you they are receiving a high number of or unusual email messages from you.

Not sure?

If you think your computer is infected with a virus, malware, or Ransomware:

  1. Do not turn off your computer.  If you know how, disconnect your computer network connection from the wall.  If you are on AirPennNet, switch your laptop to "Airplane Mode" or disconnect from all WiFi connections.  KEEP YOUR COMPUTER TURNED ON - this allows collection of important forensic data in the event an investigation is necessary.
  2. Do not forward suspicious emails.  If you receive a suspicious email, do not forward it.   If you have only read the message in a "preview pane", then do not double-click to open the entire message.  If you are not sure about this, then stop and call our Help Line at x8-HLPU (215-898-4578).
  3. Do not click any links or complete any embedded forms.  The links and other content of the suspicious email may be designed to steal information from you.
  4. If you need a browser plugin or other software installed from a web site, please contact ITS.
